我的父亲教会了我What I Have Learned From My Father(第三名)之一
This happened on a typical evening. I returned from school and pushed the door open. “what are we having for dinner, mom?” I shouted. “roast pork, and some beans.” “Oh, no! all that yucky stuff again! Why don’t you cook beef stew. Or something “more delicious?” My father, then, walked into the kitchen. “you spoiled little kid,” he began, “do you know what we had when we were your age? We never had meat except for new year’s or other festivals. For snacks, we had plain sugar instead of chocolate bars. We………”
“O.K., Dad, you don’t have to repeat it all over again.” I pied. And we started dinner. As father picked up his chopsticks, he went on telling his old story again. “you know how lucky you are, son? When I was a student, I had to clean the manger every morning. After school, the first thing I did was feed the cow. In the summer, I worked in the rice patty  under the blaring sun. and in the night, I had to guard the sugar cane field in total darkness. Can you imagine those hardships? No, you can’t. you live in an of prosperity, your parents provide you with everything, all you have to do is study, you can never understand how it is to be poor and hungry,” there was silence. Could I understand? “imagining” it is easy, but understanding is really something else. Though I seemed to have neglected his works, there were times when I really did ponder over what he said. The younger generation is far better off than the generation before. Many an afternoon I took a taxi home with my father, and he would chat with the m8iddle-aged drivers about their hardships. None of them would deny that in the Taiwan of the 1960’s. the economy, the living standards everything was incomparable with what we have today. They would shake their heads and sigh. Times have changed. As to the younger generation, some are really spoiled. I change buses at Chung-men road every day, a place very close to the well known “His-Meng ting”. Across the street, I often see the spoiled children of a rich society youngsters dressed in weird clothes (or “clothe” may be the better word) pass by. They hang around all day long wasting their parents’ money. They go to movies, dance, nothing else. Perhaps they may be referred to as parasites of the future society. But I shall never become one of them. Because of my father’s experiences, I understand that there is such a thing as “hardship” and that the elders who love us are merely hiding it from us. I am willing to take on any that I may encounter. I am just too eager to work hard. If I am ever appreciated in this world, I owe it to my father, so let me end this piece by saying, “dad, I love you! Your son has understood, and shall never disappoint you!”

我的父亲教会了我What I Have Learned From My Father(第三名)之二
I was once a boy full of complaints and resentment toward my parents. I thought I was old enough to take care of myself and that I didn’t need them that much any more. Yet, it is my father who helped me grow out of this narrow mind of mine and learn to be responsible for every task I’d been given. As I was in junior high, my brilliancy in schoolwork widened the eyes of my teachers and everybody cast his praise on me. Little by little I became confident of my self and , more than that, arrogant and conceited. I felt as if I had been a great actor on the stage and everybody was to focus his attention on my. However, things were no longer like that in my last year in junior high. I paid little attention to my study and spent much time fooling around. Certainly my parents were seriously worried about me, but I just refused to listen to what they said. I believed that they were simply not experienced enough to give me what I need, just one month before the joint senior high entrance exam came the worst of all time. My teacher called my father and informed him that I stood at the bottom of my class. I intended to pretend I didn’t mind at all. Yet as my father hung up the phone, he gave me a confused expression on his face which which I will never forget. Later I devoted myself to studying and eventually passed the entrance exam. Were you to ask me what I have learned from my father , I might smile through the unforgettable look on his face, he had made me become aware of responsibility for the good of others as well as of my self. A boy, I think, never knows it.

我的父亲教会了我What I Have Learned From My Father(第三名)之三
My father is , so to speak, a successful scholar. He devotee himself to finding truth in the world, and in turn teaches me what he has learned. Being influenced by him, I have got a better understanding of what life is and how to succeed in my life. My father never does things by halves. He often tells me that “if at first you do not succeed, try, try again”. So I realize that success and perspiration must go hand in hand. If you want to fulfill your ideals, you must stick to the last, never yielding to difficulties. My father also makes a point of valuing time; he never lets a day pass without reading some books. It is the realization that life is short, and time limited, that spurs me on to high endeavor. Besides, in his study hangs a paper which reads, "The taller the bamboo grows, the lower it bends." Reading between the lines, I have learned much from it. Father wants me to bear in mind the simplicity of true greatness and the open mind of true wisdom. I have made it my words to live by. It goes without saying that my father is an amicable as well as considerate man. Whenever I make mistakes, he soothes me and instructs me how to do next time instead of taking me quite seriously to task. In addition, my father is hospitality itself. He spares no effort to entertain whoever comes. All of these teach me how to get along with others and how to live in harmony with others. In a word, I owe what I am to my father. The words and the deeds of him have become my most precious asset in life, illuminating my pathway into the future. Being endowed with these precious treasures, I am sure I will accomplish my father's noble goal---to do good to our society.
