A Brief Instruction to the topic of I‘m going to be a basketball player
Xin Yujuan Shihua Central Middle School, Gucheng

 Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. My name is Xin Yujuan. I come from Shihua Central Middle School in Gucheng. Today I‘m much honored to stand here to talk about the topic I‘m going to be a basketball player. I‘ll divide the instruction into5 parts. They are Teaching Material Analysis, Teaching Objective Analysis, Teaching Method Analysis, Teaching Procedures Analysis and Balckboard design.

Part1 Analysis of the teaching material:
Status and function
 This period is from Section A of “Unit10 I‘m going to be a basketball player.“ The teaching content is from 3a to 4. This is an important lesson in Book Two. And it is the third period of this unit, it talks about future intentions by talking about dreams and jobs. The students have already known some words and expressions about jobs in this unit, but in this period, we‘ll learn how to write and say something about dreams and jobs. In fact, this lesson helps the students consolidate the target language and learn to use it fluently. Meanwhile, it helps the students practice listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.
 But it‘s difficult for the students to talk about this topic because they are short of words and expressions. They don‘t know much about this. So I regard the following things as key and important points.
Teaching key points:
1.Master the new words:
dream, somewhere, exhibition, artist, part-time, save, at the same time, hold, rich, travel, all over, retire, yet.
2. How to talk about dreams and jobs( what, where, how, when, why)
Teaching difficult points:
1. How to make the students understand the new language items naturally.
2. How to make the students work well with their partners.
3 .How to make the students remember the new words as soon as possible.

Part2 Analysis of the Objectives
 According to the teaching materials, I design the following three objectives.
Knowledge Objectives:
1. Study the new words
2. Make the students know how to talk about dreams and jobs.
Ability Objectives:
1. Develop the students‘ ability of listening, speaking, reading and writing.
2. Train the students‘ ability of communication.
Moral Objectives:
1. Make the students be interested in good co-operation and competition.
2. Make the students love life , love work
 (so much for this part , let‘s come to Part3)
Part3 Analysis of the teaching Method
1. Analysis of the students
  The object of my teaching is the students in Grade8.First, they have learnt a little English and can express their own opinions in English, they are interested in learning English; second, they have a strong memory and the ability to imitate; third they have a strong thirst for knowledge. Besides, they‘d like to behave themselves.
2. Analysis of the teaching methods
So I take Communicative teaching method and “Task -based‘‘ teaching method. I give them enough chances to practice, and I will use pair work, group work ,memory test and so on to let the students take an active part in all kinds of activities. That is “Learning by doing, learning by using“. Let the students be the masters of the class teaching, thus, student -centered teaching pattern is well shown. So I think my teaching methods are in line with the requirement of <>. Of course during my teaching, I will use CAI to arouse the students‘ interest

Part 4 Analysis of the Teaching procedures
Step1. Warm-up
 Ask some students some target languages‘ questions to check if they have remembered the contents they had learned before. Such as: What are you going to be when you grow up? How are you going to do that? Where are you going to work/live?
Step 2. Pairwork
 I will ask the students to discuss their dreams in pairs.
 It can help the students revise the target languages ( what, how, where questions) and make them understand each other well.
Step3. Presentation
 First, I‘ll introduce my dream with some new words and expressions with the help of CAI, such as dream, artist and so on, and give some questions. Then let the students answer them and check the answers , explain if necessary to make sure the students understand them. I think it‘s helpful to their listening and speaking and I also want to help them learn the new words in this way.
Step4. Reading
I will ask the students to read the passage and finish the following tasks. Task 1: Underline the things that Tian Tian is going to do .Task2: Find out the new words and expressions. After that, help the students understand the meanings according to the passage. Task 3: Learn and use the words and expressions. I think this can help them learn consciously. Especially in Task 3, Challenge and Translate can help them consolidate what they are learning.
